Atlanta Oliebollen Mix $3.50

A holiday tradition, usually for the New Year celebration, these deep fried donut-like treats are especially good hot and sprinkled with powdered sugar.

DUTCH RECIPE:

Benodigdheden:
1 pak complete mix voor Oliebollen
500 ml lauw water
evt. 250 gram geweekte krenten/rozijnen

Bereidingswijze:
Doe de mix in een kom en voeg het water toe. Klop het geheel tot een klontvrij beslag. Meng eventueel de krenten/rozijnen door het beslag. Dek het beslag af met een vochtige doek en laat het op een warme plaats ca. 30 minuten rijzen.

Bakken:
Breng de olie op temperatuur (190 C) in een diepe pan of friteuse. Maak m.b.v. twee lepels of ijsschep bolletjes van het beslag. Laat de bolletjes in de hete olie glijden en dompel ze even onder. Bak de oliebollen in ca. 4 minuten goudbruin. Laat de oliebollen op keukenpapier of in een vergiet uitlekken. Met 1 pak complete mix voor oliebollen kunt u ca 25 oliebollen bakken.

ENGLISH RECIPE:

You need 1 pack of the Atlanta Oliebollen mix and 500 ml of lukewarm water. (Optional: you can enhance the flavour by adding 250 grams currants/raisins soaked in water).

Preparation:
Mix the water and Oliebollen mix in a bowl until you have a smooth batter. (add currants/raisins). Cover with a damp towel/cloth and leave it in a warm spot to rise for 30 minutes. Heat oil to 375 F, in a deep frying pan or fryer. Using 2 spoons or an ice cream scoop to shape the batter into balls. Fry balls in hot oil for approx. 4 minutes until golden (make sure you submerge them at the start). Drain the oliebollen using kitchen paper or a colander. Enjoy!
1 pack makes approx. 25 oliebollen.
